Aloha Everyone!

Welcome to the Spring growing season! This is the perfect time to plant. We have had good rain and the days grow longer. It could be a time for you to make your home garden more self-sustaining with food or to grow your homestead or make a field or orchard or farm of something. We will be having our Spring Seasonal Sale May 15 and 16 and celebrating our Fifth Anniversary as a nursery, I think. Scan our Availability List or Pricelist to get a feel for what we offer.

We here propound natural farming and encourage you to do the same. We want to grow food not effected by chemicals. That includes roundup and chemical fertilizers. This is why we recommend the Ag Lime powder, because it is not in the crystalized chemical form. The powder has calcium and magnesium that promotes flowering, fruiting and holding onto the fruit. As a double benefit, it discourages the ants from farming aphids and scale making your fruit healthier. It is $25 for a 50 lbs. bag and you can share with your neighbor. Phosphorous and potassium strengthen the plant from within to make it resilient against insects and diseases. This can best be found in the ash from a backyard cooking fire and you will like the price---FREE.

I will be giving a series of four talks at the local Naalehu Public Library beginning at 4pm on the third Thursday of each month, starting April 16. The topics are: Beginning a Garden (April 16); Growing the Garden (May 21); Making the Garden More Permanent (June 18); and Establishing a Field, Orchard or Farm (July 16). We are hoping to include more local growers who can share knowledge, experience and insight. Additionally, we will give away one grafted fruit tree each evening to the model of participation.
