Aloha Everyone!

The topic of growing food and food security continues to grow right around us. Why is this so? Is there profit in creating a sense of lack rather than a sense of abundance? That, whatever it is, and a bag of rice is plenty. The book, French Square Foot Gardening, states that a family of four can be fed from ten square feet. The three dispositive books on weather, including Two Mile Time Machine, state that the weather has never been as stable as it is today. Money cannot equate to food security. Remember the picture of the man before World War II pushing the wheelbarrow filled with cash, so that he can buy a bag of potatoes? What shame! Life is a lot of things, but it is certainly more than economic, money-centered things or control.

We have been having a good discussion at the local Naalehu Library that concludes Thursday July 16 at 4pm. The topic will be Making an Orchard, Field or Farm, that is: increasing volume. We are building upon the previous three topics: Beginning a Garden, Growing the Garden and Making the Garden More Permanent. We will review healthy soil, location, grass maintenance, herbs and how they are medicine for the entire garden, and special problems related to growing in bulk. We will be looking at how collaboration or help or community action can act to move this forward. All are invited and welcome.

the harvest. How can we increase the harvest, not just of fruits but of the soul?

Yet we must have compassion, even if a few greedy men or one ideology may have designed to control the whole world, not just this country or this remote district filled with resources. Yes, love, peace, compassion, but also understanding. You can live in the moon of your mind and still be effective on the Earth. What has God given you to do today? The Dalai Lama says that we are all created by Infinite Love. In this light, right and wrong pales. And so, Jesus said love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you. My prayer for you today is not to forget your inheritance as a Child of God, a child of infinite love. And I give thanks for God’s angels.

The Sacred Tree Mural seen through the leaves of the indigenous Medicine Wheel of the Four Directions continues to grow here. All are welcome to join us regardless of artistic talent. In June, we had an infusion of Rafi Art. Our next mural painting will be Saturday July 25 from 3pm to 6pm with pupus provided.

Today, we are celebrating July 4 with a Sweet White Pineapple Special Buy 3, Get the 4th FREE. How George Washington, John Adams, Benjamin Franklin and all the Founding Fathers must be rolling in their graves. They knew this was coming. Instead, we have the largest government, that is control-apparatus, in the history of the world. God help us. Our Summer Sale August 14 and 15 will be followed by our BBQ Potluck at 3pm on August 15.
